One of the biggest benefits of debt relief plans is that it lets you clear your problem debts at a pace you can manage, which can take a lot of pressure off your monthly budget. Good debt plans can make your monthly outgoings much lower. There are various ways to reduce your monthly repayments, these include:
Debt Management Plan
A Debt Management Plan (DMP) allows you to pay off your debts at a rate you can afford. Your provider will help you work out an affordable payment and talk to your creditors. You make one monthly payment to the DMP provider who then pays your creditors for you.
Debt consolidation is when all of your debts are combined into one individual ‘lump sum’ – so instead of making lots of smaller individual payments every month, you’re just making just one payment to one lender, which is often a smaller payment than you’re currently making.
Individual Voluntary Arrangement
An Individual Voluntary Arrangement ( IVA ) is an agreement with your creditors to pay all or part of your debts. You agree to make regular payments to an insolvency practitioner, who will divide this money between your creditors. An IVA can give you more control of your assets than bankruptcy.
When you go bankrupt almost all of your debts are written off. Deciding to go bankrupt is a big step that involves fees and can impact different areas of your life, such as your job or home. Bankruptcy is a form of insolvency and is normally only suitable if you can’t pay back your debts in a reasonable time.
Debt Relief Order
A debt relief order (DRO) is a way to have your debts written off if you have a relatively low level of debt and have few assets. If you qualify, our specialist DRO team can apply to the Insolvency Service for you. Debt relief orders are not available if you live in Scotland.
An administration order is a way to deal with debt if you have a county court or High Court judgment against you and you cannot pay in full. The debt must be less than £5,000. You make 1 payment a month to your local court. The court will divide this money between your creditors. Creditors listed on the administration order cannot take any further action against you without the court’s permission.
Eligibility: While you may like the look of one debt solution package more than another, please note that each type of debt relief plan requires the user to meet certain eligibility.

You can search the Financial Services Register for companies and individuals authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
